Château Pape Clément

Pessac-Léognan

At the end of the 13th century, Bertrand de Goth, a young son of a noble family was elected archbishop of Bordeaux by pope Bonifacio VIII and he took over this estate from his brother. In 1305 Bertrand was elected pope Clément V and renamed his estate Pape Clément. Thus one can see that wine has been produced here for 7 centuries. The second wine produced here is about one third of the entire crop.
